The idea of forming a group of depositories in the Asia - Pacific region was mooted at the World Depositories Meet held in Copenhagen in May 1997. Accordingly, The Asia Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG) was formed. National Securities Depository Limited, India is one of the founder members of the ACG. Its first meeting was held on November 27 - 28, 1997 at Hong Kong in which 14 depositories participated. A Secretariat co-ordinates the meetings and dissemination of information among members. Each member acts as a Secretariat for a period of one year.
