Financial Information Provider

Financial Information Provider (FIP) are institutions that hold users' data. These FIPs are the Depositories, AMC, Banks and NBFC. FIP provide the financial information pertaining to customers to Account Aggregator (AA) basis of explicit consent of customers. SEBI has specified Depositories as FIP in respect of Securities Market.

NSDL as a FIP

NSDL has integrated with the Account Aggregator Ecosystem and is operational (LIVE) as FIP.

NSDL FIP partnered with AAs to share information about the securities held in NSDL demat accounts with Financial Information Users (FIU) basis consent of customer. AA are RBI registered entities who collect financial information from entities (FIP) that store customer data and share with entities (FIU) that request customer data based on consent of customer.

By simply providing consent through Account Aggregator handle, customers can request holding data from NSDL to be shared with the FIUs.
